20.11.2001 - October production up

Car production in October rose by 9.2 per cent in contrast to the year-to-date, which shows that production has dipped 11.1 per cent to 1,238,904 units.

Production for the home market rose in October by 32 per cent to 51,081 units, while output for export remained steady at 92,538 units.

Commenting on car production in October, SMMT chief executive Christopher Macgowan said, " These latest figures paint an optimistic picture. While production for export remained steady, output for the home market grew by nearly 10 per cent last month. This is only to be expected in the face of economic uncertainty abroad, while UK demand for new cars remains strong. Consumer confidence is high and demand reflects both the desirability and diversity of new models coming off British production lines."

20.11.2001 - Peugeot introduce 206 1CP

Peugeot have introduced the stylish new 206 1CP in time for Christmas.

The sleek lines, silver grey bodywork and realistic instrument panel of the 1CP (one- child power) should make it popular in the local park, while its child-power assisted steering makes negotiating gardens a breeze. And, while sturdily built, it's light enough not to strain Santa's back when he carries it down the chimney on Christmas Eve.

This pint-sized charmer provides masses of top-down driving fun for just ?4. Pedal versions of the 306 Cabriolet are also available and, for those little ones who've been very, very good, there's even an electric 306 Cabriolet, priced at ?86. And if a cuddly co-driver is required, Peugeot dealers can provide one, in the form of a Peugeot lion, available in a range of sizes from Beanie to big!
